The IFM PN7092 is an electronic pressure sensor with an integrated display, designed for reliable monitoring and control of pressure in industrial liquid systems. It combines a robust ceramic-capacitive measuring cell, stainless steel process connection and flexible IO-Link communication in a compact housing that is easy to install and parameterize. 

For applications such as pump control, cooling circuits, hydraulic units and general machine building, the PN7092 offers a wide measuring range from 0 to 100 bar (0 to 1450 psi, 0 to 10 MPa) with excellent accuracy and fast response, helping you protect equipment and stabilize process pressure.

Robust sensing technology for demanding liquid applications

At the heart of the PN7092 is a ceramic-capacitive measuring cell. This technology is well known for its high overload resistance, long-term stability and good performance in many standard industrial liquids such as water, coolants, hydraulic oils and general process fluids. 

The wetted parts are made of stainless steel 316L, ceramic and FKM sealing material, which provides a good balance between corrosion resistance, mechanical robustness and compatibility with many common media. As with any pressure sensor, checking chemical compatibility with your specific fluid is still essential in applications with aggressive chemicals or special additives.

With a pressure rating of 300 bar and a burst pressure of 650 bar, the PN7092 is engineered to withstand pressure spikes and transient overloads commonly seen in pump and valve switching operations, giving a safety margin between normal operating range (0–100 bar) and mechanical limits. 


Flexible switching outputs and IO-Link integration

The PN7092 integrates two fully configurable digital switching outputs. Each output can be set as PNP or NPN, and as normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC). 

That flexibility allows you to:

  • Use the sensor as a classic electronic pressure switch with one or two setpoints.

  • Implement separate switching thresholds for alarm and control (for example, pump start at lower threshold, fault alarm at upper threshold).

  • Adapt the wiring scheme to existing control hardware (both PNP and NPN supported).

On top of the switching outputs, the PN7092 supports IO-Link communication (COM2, 38.4 kBaud, IO-Link revision 1.1), turning the device into a “smart” pressure sensor. Through IO-Link you can:

  • Read live pressure values with higher resolution than via pure switching logic.

  • Adjust setpoints, hysteresis, window functions and delays directly from the PLC engineering tool.

  • Access diagnostic information such as device status, error flags or identification data.

This drastically simplifies commissioning and later parameter changes compared to manual button programming only, especially if you have many identical sensors in the machine.


Clear display and easy mechanical installation

The PN7092 features a 4-digit alphanumeric display that can show measured pressure values in bar, psi or MPa, and can change color between red and green to give immediate visual feedback on operating state. Additional LEDs indicate the selected unit and the switching status of the outputs. 

The upper part of the housing can be rotated by roughly 345°. This is extremely useful in cramped cabinets or on manifolds where the electrical connector or display would otherwise face the wrong direction. You can first tighten the G 1/4 process connection to the correct torque, and then orient the display and M12 connector for convenient viewing and wiring.

The compact cylindrical body, G 1/4 female thread and standard M12 connector make the PN7092 a straightforward replacement for many existing pressure switches or transmitters that use similar mechanical and electrical interfaces. 


Performance, accuracy and reliability

For control tasks where pressure stability really matters, the PN7092 offers an accuracy of typically ≤ ±0.5 % of the measurement span, with repeatability better than ±0.1 % under moderate temperature variations. The fast response time of less than 3 ms allows the sensor to react quickly to pressure changes, which is helpful for dynamic processes such as rapid filling, pulsating pumps or fast valve switching. 

The device is designed for high mechanical endurance, with a specified minimum of around 100 million pressure cycles and a calculated mean time to failure of roughly 260 years under standard conditions. Combined with IP65/IP67 protection and EMC robustness according to industrial standards, this gives you a sensor that is suited for long-term use in harsh machine environments. 

Gold-plated contacts in the M12 connector improve contact reliability, especially in applications with vibration or frequent reconnection, and help maintain stable electrical performance over the sensor lifetime. 


Typical applications

Because of its 0–100 bar range, robust design and liquid-oriented measuring concept, the IFM PN7092 is commonly used in:

  • Pump control and dry-run protection in water supply or cooling systems

  • Monitoring of pressure in hydraulic power units and compact power packs (within medium and pressure limits)

  • Pressure supervision in coolant and lubricant circuits in machine tools

  • Pressure monitoring in filtration systems and heat exchangers

  • General OEM machinery where a compact “pressure switch with display” is required

For gas applications at higher pressures, IFM specifies that use above 25 bar is only on request, so it is important to verify suitability with the manufacturer or your supplier for such use cases. 


Parameter setting and commissioning

The PN7092 can be configured locally using the three pushbuttons below the display or remotely via IO-Link. Typical parameters include:

  • Choice of measuring unit (bar, psi, MPa)

  • Switching mode: hysteresis or window

  • Setpoint and reset point for each output

  • NO/NC behavior of the outputs

  • Switch-on and switch-off delays to filter out short pressure spikes

  • Damping / response behavior to stabilize the display and switching in pulsating systems

Manual button programming is suitable for one-off adjustments on site, while IO-Link is ideal when you want to clone settings across many identical sensors or integrate parameter management into your PLC project.
