50 mm Spring-Return Measurement Range

The Gefran PY-2-C-050 0000X000X00 is the 50 mm connector-equipped configuration within the PY2 family. It carries Gefran ordering number F004207 and combines a spring-return control rod, stainless-steel ball contact tip and 5-pole DIN 43322 electrical connector.

This version is intended for applications that require more travel than the 10 mm and 25 mm PY2 models while retaining direct contact measurement. The sensor supplies continuous absolute position feedback rather than a simple on/off indication.

Longer-Stroke Application Considerations

The 50 mm stroke changes both the installation envelope and controller scaling compared with shorter PY2 models. Verify that the monitored component remains in contact with the probe throughout its movement and that neither machine travel limit forces the rod beyond the permitted mechanical range.

The target surface should be sufficiently smooth and correctly aligned. Lateral movement across the ball tip may create side load, while abrupt contact can damage the rod or affect repeatability. A mechanical stop should protect the sensor if accidental machine overtravel is possible.

Electrical Integration

The transducer operates as a potentiometric voltage divider. Excitation voltage, controller input impedance, grounding and analogue scaling must be confirmed from the installed control circuit. The connector type alone does not verify pin assignments, so wiring should be checked before energizing the replacement.

Comparison with Other PY2 Versions

PY-2-C-025 0000X000X00 F004199 provides 25 mm travel and requires less installation space. PY-2-F-050-S01M 0000X000X00 F004242 retains the 50 mm stroke but replaces the connector with a 1 m screened cable. PY-2-F-050-S02M F004248 and PY-2-F-050-S03M F004249 use different cable lengths and are separate ordering configurations.
